Ein polnischer Diamantenhändler, der mit seinem Geschäft in der Londoner Bond Street residiert, wird überfallen - und das ausgerechnet von einem als Weihnachtsmann verkleideten Räuber, der sich Diamanten im Wert von rd. 20.000 Pfund in den Sack steckt und dann mit einem Rentier-Schlitten ... ähh, pardon, nein, ... mit einem Auto flieht.
Da Motorwagen in London noch recht selten sind und der Dieb ein seltenes Fabrikat mit auffälliger Lackierung gefahren ist, fällt es der Polizei sehr einfach, den Eigentümer zu finden: einen Adeligen mit Sitz im Oberhaus. Doch weder er noch sein Bruder kommen als Diebe in Frage und beschweren sich empört beim Polizeichef. Daher wendet sich Scotland Yard hilfesuchend an Sherlock Holmes ...
Einfach strukturierte Geschichte, aber durchaus spannend. Daher drei Sterne plus Weihnachts-Bonusstern = 4 Sterne ****
